I could post my variations up before as the size was too big and i wasn't able to get in blogger. But here they are.

Reflection of the project

What about your project was most successful? Explain

The thing that was most successful about my project was that i got enhance my skills of using photoshop and especially illustrator. During the creation of the 50 logo, i went through lot of tutorials that helped me get in depths of what the programs can do. Also during the advertisement phase, i used a combination of after effects and sony vegas. I have gotten to know some basic elements of these programs. This assignment has definately opened my eyes to the power fo wht softwares can do. Overall it was a very fun assignment to do, it opened my creatitivity level. And i learned what processes some logo creators must go through to get their logo to be successful

What about your project was least successful? Explain

The thing that was the least successful was that many times during the creation of logo I forgot to save the logo and the program kept crashing sometimes. This really got me frustrated. Overall i didn't learn as much about adobe after effects as i wanted to during this assignment. Also one less succesful part of my summative was the research and the written work. I tend to focus mostly on the fun part which was creating the logo. So due to this i wasnt able to complete the quality of work on the written part as i would normal have done.

How did you manage your time during the project?

I managed my time with creating the logos realy went. I created logos on a regular bases so i was easily able to complete the 50 logo. The advertising was the hardest part as i had never used After Effects before so learning the basics took a lot of time but i was able to create a good advertisement using tutorials and templates. i was a little behing in the acutally reasearch part but i got it all done before the due date.

What would you change about your work?

If i could change anything about my work it would most definately be part of research and the first logos i created. The research could have been done better with more througal report. For the logo at first i did not have a good idea on what i was creating. Thus the first few logos werent as good as they could be. But after a while i got better ideas and my logo started improving.


What mark do you believe you have earned on the project? Explain.
I think I will earn around the 82-90% range marks. The final product turned out good but there are lot of places where I could have improved. Therefore, my marks would get docked in those areas but overall it was a good project.

Design: Advertisment

The main advertising scheme most companies is us a billboard. So, i made a bill board for gap company for the summer. I have made two variations of the billboard. One uses a real billboard and other one uses a 3d computer made billboard.

Design: Logo on Products

The gap logo can be used on anything. I made the gap logo on a shopping bag and a t shirt.

Design: Logo

The new logo is better than the previous logo:

1. Modern font
2. Better background with graphics
3. Appeals to the consumers
4. More stylish
5. Has a bit edge on it as it stands out among other logos
6. It’s not simple, it is has more complexity to it.
7. The design on the logo has more themes like not just a simple background and a tall font. It uses gradients in combinations of good text.
8. It has a better color choices as compared to previous with one dull color.

Design: Color

The colors I have chosen are all different shades of blue. I wanted to keep atleats one thing from the original logo which was the background color blue. All of the colors shown above are not used as one solid color like the original logo. They are used with other variations of blue to create a better and more sophisticated logo.

Design: Characteristics

First of all I want my logo to have a background that is more than just one simple dull color. The new logo should have various styles of backgrounds like different gradients or abstract backgrounds. Like the following they are dark blue but yet they appeal more at the same time have simplicity

                             

I want the new logo to have a more modern font that is smooth and fits the logo. The font will be a normal size font not streched or tall type like it current logo.

This font is very modern and has a perfect style to it.

Research: Pitch

The current logo is more appealing to the old age people but its products are catered to younger audience. So the new logo would be very appealing to the younger audience and will have a great design that will be more publically recognizable. It will feature more modern graphics and modern font so it looks fresh and sleek.

Research: Demographics

Gap’s current demographic market is from mid adults to younger teens.  Gap will connect with its audience through more modern advertising ideas. Instead of featuring celebrities in their ads, their current ads will actually feature the product to more extend and with better graphics and style. 

Research: Good Brand

In today generation, one company and its products, that are known by almost everyone is APPLE. Since the founding of Apple Inc. they have brought groundbreaking products to the world with the most advanced technologies. They have made many revolutionary products such as iPod, IPhone, Macintosh, laptops, IPad and ITunes. Most of their portable products include the letter “I” in front of it. This is their basic branding style. This company is an excellent example of creating a brand though logo. They have achieved world renowned recognition for their logo. It is probably the one and the only logo to not incorporate their company name on it. This company is very successful in today world, as it has exceptional advertising concepts. They are simple yet bold to the audience. All of their products have an excellent design that is very appealing to the viewer. It is a company that is more catered to the younger audience and it captures their attention completely with its combination of great product and advertisements.

Research: Rebrand Personality

After I’m done with creating my logo, it would have a very modern look to it. The logo is going to have a complete makeover. Only thing that would be similar to the previous logo would be the color of the background. It will have a stylish background not just one plain color. Also the font would be changed to something more modern that is fashionable. Also the font would look like it’s stretched out of its proportion.

Research: Rational

1) GAP log seems really simple with its basic dark blue background. It’s like the old corporate style which does not attract many viewers. I want the new logo to have a better background that catches the eye. The background should be abstract or have sum pattern in it so it seems complex but appealing.

2.) The current font does not suit the logo. It look awkward in its position, seems like the lettering is stretched too much

3) GAP is a clothing store that is supposed to modern and stylish. Their logo just doesn’t represent that. The following is a picture of their advertisement, the picture would define gap as a cool product. But its logo takes it away.

4) The gap logo went through a process of creating a new and modern logo for their company, unfortunately the new logo lasted only a week due to its terrible design. The company knew that its old logo needs refreshment but they don’t quite know how to do it.

5) The gap logo is something which u cannot show off much, unlike all the other leading brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma. The logo should be publically recognized as a great logo not a dull logo.

Here is a video commercial that i created. I rendered it really fast as due to the lack of time, thus it has a lower quality. Will try posting a better quality soon after I'm done with everything else.

Days are getting hotter now but it feels good in this computer lab. I made a new logo with kind of wet like style to cool off the hot summer. Both Photoshop and Illustrator were used to make this logo.

Created another variation of the 3d logo. Now learned that they don't look the best and quite not suitable for gap. So will now be returning to the normal simple logos. Will make a new background for the new logos today.

I have worked on one more 3d logo, changed the background and also the design in the 3d logo itself. The background took quite a while to make. Gurdeep Dhaliwal also helped make the background.

Created a very different logo today, this one seems like a good style. I will most likely create many logo variation from this logo. It too a very long time to make the background and to mask the letter g, did it with Mr. Bishops help.

Date: 28 April

Reseached many logo throughout the internet. Found various logos that need rebranding such as GAP, IBM, 2012 london olympics, Megaflicks... etc. These logos are either really old or just dont judge its motive. For my summative I chose GAP as my logo. So from now on i will be publishing a daily log on my progress of logo development.
